Seville has duende this week as guitarists, flamenco groups and singers gather together at the annual April Fair for a week-long party. Flamenco in its original form was only cante (voice), a primitive cry or chant accompanied by the rhythm of a wooden staff, beaten out on the floor. The guitar entered flamenco as an accompanying instrument only two hundred years ago.Flamenco guitar is smaller and lighter than the classical guitar, the flamenco guitar has a more percussive sound and tappingplates on the lid to palmearla.
